Varicose Veins
Varicose Veins
Varicose veins involve great saphenous veins in the front side of the thigh and legs and shows softness veins in back of legs. This condition is due to insufficient and incomplete closure of the valves inside the vein. In addition, long standing / walking up right positions increase pooling pressure of the blood inside the veins creating dilation.
As compared to spider veins which are mostly cosmetic concerns, varicose veins cause medical programs such as pain and throbbing, swelling and edema, changes of skin sensation (paraesthesia) and a more serious skin condition called stasis dermatitis with an itching sensation and pigment discoloration as well as non-healing skin ulcerations.
Varicose veins are treated with internal laser procedure called EVLA. Mapping the vein with an ultrasound laser is introduced into affected vein lumen under guidance of ultrasound then anesthetize vein structure with tumescent solution. Laser is activated and energy of laser treats the veins making the lumen of the affected vein collapse.
Varicose Veins are gnarled and enlarged . Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That’s because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body.
This technique is a simple office procedure which takes 60-90 minutes and patient will go home 30 minutes later in comfort. It is a vast difference in traditional vein stripping procedure which requires general anesthesia and several days hospitalization followed by painful legs and bruising for several weeks.
For many people, varicose veins and spider veins – a common, mild variation of varicose veins – are simply a cosmetic concern. For other people, varicose veins can cause aching pain and discomfort. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems.
